Today was our first day of SCIENCE at TLC! We had a great time getting to know one another. Next, we read a book that talked about what Scientists do. Then we talked about how Scientists use their five senses (seeing, smelling, hearing, touch and taste). Finally, the fun part, we used some science manipulatives to talk about what we could learn about in science using our five senses. Next week we will be experimenting using the 7 steps of the Scientific Method. I can't wait!
This month our TLC Science has centered around animals, and weather for most of our classes. We studied penguins, polar bears, the Arctic and Antarctic environment, and snow. Some of our Upper Classes participated in The 12 Days of Science STEAM Challenges. Happy Holidays! See you in 2020.
Happy Thursday! Today's book is My Even Day. Based on even numbers, it is a follow up to One Odd Day. Extension Activities include making an Even Creature today (2 eyes, 2 ears, 2 mouths)! Count items around your house to see if you have even or odd amounts (I have 4 kitchen chairs so they are even). You can also make a number chart 1-10 and draw pictures for each one, circle your pictures in pairs to see if the number is even or odd. If you don't want to make your own, can you tell which are even and which are odd from my picture below?
